Nestled in the heart of Minnesota’s unique transition zone of tall-grass prairie, hardwood and conifer forests, and wetlands, this area hosts a diversity of birds. In recent years, birders have checked the following species off their lists: Blue-Gray Gnatcatcher, Gray-cheeked Thrush, Rough-legged Hawk, Chestnut-collared Longspur, LeConte’s and Nelson’s Sharp-tailed Sparrows, Golden-winged and Northern Parula Warblers, Alder Flycatcher, Greater Prairie Chicken, and Black-backed Woodpecker.

The Festival of Birds will include presentations, socials, and morning field trips, with Friday and Saturday night keynotes.

The 2023 Gathering Partners Conference will take place May 19-21, 2023 at the Bell Museum (May 19) and the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum (May 20-21). This year’s conference will include concurrent sessions, field trips, and the social activities you’ve come to love. BBRP team members will have an information table at the Activities and Exhibitor Fair on Saturday between 9:00 a.m.  – 8:30 p.m. Please join us for everything Bluebird!

  • The MN Zoo’s Conservation Department and BBRP are partnering to feature Bluebirds at their Wild Night Out” event June 8
  • BBRP with host a booth at “Gammelgården Museum’s Mid-summer Festival – Scandia MN – June 24.
  • Look for BBRP’s booth at the “42nd Annual Gammel Dag in Peterson, MN – June 24.
  • The 2023 Fillmore County Forestry Field Day will be held July 26 at the home of Bill & Mary Bailey in rural Chatfield. Titled “Wildlife, Woodlands, Wetlands”. It will feature the creation of a wildlife sanctuary including the establishment of a bluebird trail, the creation of wetlands, trails, and biodiversity.
